　　大手製薬会社?長原製薬の広報部員?槙田高弘（玉山鉄二）は、通勤途中、駅で飛び込み自殺に遭遇。数日後、副社長の安城隆雄（小林薫）に呼び出された槙田は、あの自殺事件に自社の薬品が関係している可能性があることを告げられる。安城の特命で警察に探りを入れる槙田。今、業績不振にあえぐ長原製薬にとって外資との合併交渉が破談になると致命傷になりかねない。婚約者で安城の秘書?森田真弓（蓮佛美沙子）に自らの極秘任務を話せない槙田。そんな中、検死の結果報告に渦中の薬品の成分が記載されていることを知る。厚生労働省への報告義務がある中、安城が槙田に下した命令は、被害者遺族との示談と薬害の隠蔽であった。会社の命運を背負い困惑する槙田は、合併後に安城が排除しようとしている社長派の顧問弁護士?高藤辰美（柳葉敏郎）に助けを求めようとしてしまう。果たして、槙田は会社の利益のために自らの手を汚してしまうのか…。
